Professor Iain Gordon appointed to Board of RBGE

Professor Iain Gordon, Chief Executive of the James Hutton Institute, has been appointed by the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment as one of the Trustees to the Board of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) for the next four years.

The RBGE is an internationally renowned centre of excellence in plant biodiversity research and conservation which contributes to 11 of the Scottish Governments National Outcomes.

Diana Murray, Chief Executive of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), and Professor Thomas Meagher, Professor of Plant Biology at the University of St Andrews, are the other two members which complete the Trustees of the Board.

During their term Trustees to the Board of the RBGE will spend up to 16 days per year performing their duties. The appointments are regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland and are based on merit activities.
