Norman Borlaug Institute for Global Food Secruity - University of Nottingham and Rothamsted Research

The University of Nottingham and Rothamsted Research have made a decision to fortify and augment their existing working collaboration to provide for the UK and the rest of the world a partnership focal point for the framework for such a new Green Revolution by establishing the Norman Borlaug Institute for Global Food Security (NBI-GFS). This development will enable the University of Nottingham and Rothamsted Research to meld together the relevant complementary expertise of the UK’s leading agricultural and food orientated university and the world’s oldest internationally recognised agricultural research institute for a range of priority themes for this new Green Revolution. These priority themes have been identified from the recent Foresight Report on the future of food and farming (2011) final project report. The Government Office for Science, London, The Royal Society report on reaping the benefits: science and the sustainable intensification of global agriculture (2009) and the major review: how to feed a hungry world (Nature 466, July 2010).
