New Year Honours

Professor Robert Watson, who holds a chair in environmental sciences at the University of East Anglia, is director of strategic development at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, is chief scientific adviser at the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs and is a member of NERC's Council, has received a knighthood.

Dr Gerry Barnes, who is Norfolk County Council’s environment manager, has received an MBE for services to forestry and the community in recognition for his work in supporting the development of community woodlands.

Dr John Edward Sheey formerly of the International Rice Research Institute received an OBE for services to agricultural research and development

Dr Michael Thomas Jackson, formerly of the International Rice Research Institute received an OBE for services to international food science.

John Malcolm Thomas former director of NFU Cymru has received an MBE in the New Years Honour List for services to agriculture in Wales.
