Latest Issue of Samara, the newsletter of the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership, now available

27th Jan 2013

We’re pleased to announce that issue 23 (July – December 2012) is now available to read on the Kew website: www.kew.org/msbp/samara <http://www.kew.org/msbp/samara>

The theme of this issue is how seed banks are engaging with horticulture and our lead article by Anthony Hitchcock describes the Kirstenbosch Threatened Species Programme, a successful partnership run by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI). We also have articles about the UK Native Seed Hub, seed scientists and horticulturalists working together to conserve threatened Georgian species, Kew’s partnership with Garden Organic, and banking seed from the living collections at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Khaled Abulaila describes his work looking at the conservation of orchids in Jordan and we have items covering research looking at the nutritional requirements of 12 tropical orchids and non-invasive techniques for monitoring seed quality. Plus we have our usual round-up of news from the Partnership.

We hope you enjoy this issue and, as always, welcome any feedback. You can email us with any comments at samara@kew.org
