Latest addition of Samara, the Newsletter of the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership now available

5th Dec 2011

The latest issue of Samara (number 21) is now available on the Kew website. In recognition of the International Year of Forests, we have dedicated this issue to the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership’s work with forests and tree seeds.

We are delighted to have a lead article from Oudara Souvannavong of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, which outlines the latest knowledge on the status of global forest resources. We also have articles on work to protect rare and threatened forest species in Chile, on restoring forests in Cambodia, on native tree planting in Africa and the role of seed banks in forest management in Poland. We also have a round-up of MSBP research related to tree species, plus the usual news updates from across the Partnership.

We very much hope that you enjoy reading it and, as ever, would be pleased to receive your feedback which you can send to samara@kew.org
