Latest addition of the Newsletter of the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership now available

3rd Mar 2011

Issue 18/19 of Samara: the international newsletter of the partners of the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership was recently published online and has a food security theme. The lead article “Back to the Roots: Wild Genes for Food Security” by Colin Khoury and Luigi Guarino of the Global Crop Diversity Trust provides an excellent introduction to the subject and the role for seed banks. There is also news of the new MSBP cooperation with the Global Crop Diversity Trust (GCDT) and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) on a global initiative to systematically find, gather, catalogue, use, and save the wild relatives of a selection of food crops. This issue also contains general news and research updates from around the Partnership.
