High-Resolution Temporal Profiling in Arabidopsis Reveals a Distinct Chronology of Processes and Regulation

A new paper available on line in Plant Cell describes a large scale high resolution microarray experiment that reveals the chronology of processes and regulation that take place during Arabidopsis leaf senescence. This represents the first large scale microarray dataset to be released from the BBSRC funded PRESTA project which is a joint Systems Biology project between the Universities of Warwick, Exeter and Essex. PRESTA aims to characterise the overlapping transcriptional networks that control responses to abiotic and biotic in Arabidopsis, to identify key regulatory genes that influence plant stress tolerance. Environmental stress leads to premature senescence and loss of crop yield and quality and many senescence processes and signalling pathways are also involved in such stress responses.
