Consultation on Genetic Modification

30th Aug 2012

The Society for General Microbiology (SGM) is developing a policy statement on Genetic Modification (GM), which will cover the research use of GM in plants, animals and micro-organisms, and give examples of how GM techniques have been used in a research context, as well as giving information on the regulatory systems in place.

A proper and full understanding of the scientific evidence is important in the development of evidence-based policy for special interest groups and NGOs, as it is for politicians and Governments.

SGM would very much like to hear views on their draft statement and case studies, which are available for download at: http://www.sgm.ac.uk/news/gmconsultation.cfm. Please send your comments, amendments and suggestions on these documents to William Burns, Policy Officer.

Consultation deadline: 30th September 2012
