Highlighting the latest opportunities

By simply selecting from the options above you’ll be able to find calls and initiatives in a particular area, from a particular funder or in a specific category such as fellowships. You can also search for opportunities by deadline e.g. 1 month from now.

Why not sign up to the RSS feed and keep up to date on all the latest funding opportunities.

We endeavour to include as many opportunities as we can, but inevitably we might miss some out. It might be useful to have a look at the following pages for more funding calls: Innovate UK, BBSRC, NERC, Horizon 2020 and ERC.  If you know of other opportunities that we should be listed please get in contact.

BBSRC, in partnership with NERC, seeks to fund a community-led network to encourage and facilitate high-quality systems-oriented research relevant to the sustainable intensification (SI) of agriculture, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approaches.  For this purpose, the aim of SI is defined as the combination of enhanced yields with improved resource use efficiency and better environmental (and social and economic) outcomes, while balancing production with long-term maintenance of the natural capital on which it and other ecosystem services depend (not just “growing more with less”).  Funding of up to £80k per annum is available for up to three years (see below for details of the specific FEC arrangements that will apply for this purpose). For a community network of this kind, we would not expect to receive more than one application.

The Follow-on funding programme is designed to support the translation of fundamental research funded by us into practical application, including commercialisation. The aim of the programme is to help researchers maximise the societal and economic benefits of their research. This programme is a proof-of-concept model where further work on an idea will take it through to the stage at which the route to application is clear, which may include a spin-out or licensing opportunity. The programme enables activities essential to preparing a robust business plan and secure, where appropriate, further funding and support to progress. Opens: 14 September 2015.

The Global Food Security (GFS) programme is pleased to launch a new 5-year interdisciplinary programme of research. The programme has been co-designed by BBSRC, ESRC, NERC, Defra, FSA and the Scottish Government, in partnership with wider stakeholders, to address a major food security challenge: ‘Resilience of the UK food system in a global context’.  BBSRC, NERC & ESRC are contributing £14M and further contributions are being considered by other GFS partners. The programme will integrate biological, environmental and social sciences to support interdisciplinary projects addressing key themes. Proposals that address aspects of more than one theme are strongly encouraged.
