Welcome to the inaugural Expo Milan Conference at Fera Science Ltd in York.

It is our pleasure to host you as our guests for what we anticipate will be an interesting and enjoyable event, where we will aim to address the theme: ‘Managing the agri-food chain through drought and deluge’

“Feeding the planet, Energy for life,” has been the theme of the UK pavilion at Expo Milan 2015.

How that will be fulfilled in the uncertainty of climate change when there is either too much or too little water, often in the wrong place, and of varying quality is the core purpose of this conference.

Aimed at senior decision makers across the food and agri-tech industry and featuring keynote speakers from international industry and government, including the Minister of State for Farming, Food and the Marine Environment, George Eustice MP, this conference aims to:

-Encourage greater collaboration between disparate parts of the agri-food chain

-Drive greater awareness of the impact of extreme weather events on food, including reduced yield, higher incidence of pest and disease and increased risk of food fraud; and

-Inform and influence UK government and EU decision makers about the impact of policy and regulation on an agri-food chain impacted by drought and flood.

The UK’s Agri-tech leadership council will be attending the conference along with leaders from across the food chain.

We do hope you will be able to join us too for this event.

UK EXPO Milan 2015 pavilion “Feeding the planet, Energy for life” coincides with the regional launch of the ‘Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation’ (IAFRI) – the latest UK academic/private collaborative institute to facilitate innovation in research across the agri-food supply chain. The satellite launch event will provide a unique opportunity for networking and to learn about the ‘Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation’ (IAFRI) and its potential to deliver sustainable solutions to problems in the agri-food chain to benefit society as well as driving economic growth for the medium and long term.

The one day event will be held at Fera, National Agri-Food Innovation Campus, Sand Hutton, York on the 20th October and kick off at 19.30 on the 19th October with a drinks reception at Hospitium, York, to facilitate networking and the launch of the 'Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation' (IAFRI).

Note: This is a FREE event for Senior Decision Makers working in the Agri-Food Chain and places are limited, so an early response is recommended.
